La Biovallée®

The Pays Diois, aware of its unspoilt nature, is a bench mark in terms of sustainable development. As part of Biovallée and the Parcs Naturels Régionaux of the Vercors and the Baronnies Provençales, one can see it in the landscapes, one can sniff it in the purity of the air. The sun feeds the photovoltaic panels, the soil is worked using organic methods over 20% of the agricultural area and the water in the river Drôme remains crystal clear.

A good practice eco-territory

Vallée de Quint

As well as the Pays Diois, the Biovallée® brand extends to the ‘intercommunalités’ (groups of villages) of the Crestois-Pays de Saillans and the Val de Drôme, bringing together 2 200 km², 91 communes, 56 000 inhabitants, 1 700 businesses and over 1 000 civil societies and their supporters.

The project wishes to develop local and sustainable economies in order to conserve natural resources and ensure that the inhabitants have access to essential services.

Thus, all the members have the same objectives of home-grown energy, buying local, using ethical funds, composting 100% of organic waste, being certified organic and promoting low impact transport.

The Diois supports alternative living

The soul of the Diois
Picodon

This committed area attracts city dwellers searching for meaning, because in the Diois, people live differently.

A benign energy pervades the area, nurtured by real solidarity and fertile soil where all kinds of collective and artistic initiatives, eco-buildings a social economy and short supply chains all flourish.

Here you are not treated as a Martian if you eat germinated seeds or make use of medicinal plants!

Close to nature, caring about the environment and living at a different pace, the inhabitants have quickly adopted sustainable agriculture and have, as a result, made the Diois one of the foremost organic parts of France.

Did you know that every year, at the end of January, in Die, The Rencontres de Die et de la Biovallée® help make us aware of the consequences of our behaviour on the environment, health and society, and encourage initiatives and concrete actions
