Where can I photograph lavender in the Pays Diois ?

Get out your mobile phones and enjoy taking a selfie in one of the most beautiful lavender viewpoints in the Pays Diois, which we have selected for you. The effect is guaranteed, because even without its pleasant aroma, lavender always makes you dream and, in addition, lavender in a mountain setting is much more genuine!

Good practice

Lavande

Lavender fields may attract you but they are fragile and represent a lot of work by the growers! So, out of respect for their work, admire the lavender, but only from a distance. Stay outside the fields. The lovely flowers are very photogenic but should not be picked!

If you want a bouquet of lavender, rendez-vous with our producers and buy it from their shops and everyone will be happy.

Chamaloc

Lavender selfie in the northernmost lavender fields in France

Lavender fields set below black shales and rock outcrops, characteristic of the mountains of the Diois.

Saint Nazaire-Le-Désert

Lavender selfie in Diois Provençal

Along with pine woods and crops, find the well hidden lavender field, with Angèle mountain as a backdrop.

Still a very wild place, this mule train crossroads was probably a ‘bégude’, where travellers stopped for a drink.

Immerse yourselves in the lavender fields along the Bon Plan path from Montanègue (12,3km + 540m – best undertaken in the morning. If you wish to stay for a long time, park on the Place du Chenevrier in the village).

Little car park on the ‘roses’ bend in the road

Then walk 150 mtrs on the way-marked path which goes off from the bend.

Volvent

Selfie at the Col des Vaches at the heart of the lavender fields

On a tiny end of the world type road, time stands still at the Col des Vaches, which overlooks traditional lavender fields.

Just above the little village of Volvent which is shaped like an arc and stands a level bit of ground, watched over by the bare ridges of the Cervelle mountain, the view opens out onto the mountains of Provence.
