About
Exhibitions on local heritage: "Histoire et Chemins du pays de Lus" and "La forêt Lussoise hier aujourd'hui et demain".
Discover the richness and importance of the Lussoise forest, both past and present: its physiognomy, variations, forms of exploitation, techniques and tools, and of course its future (children's area).
Follow the paths of today to take a trip back in time in the footsteps of :
- The Carthusian monks of Durbon: The neighboring commune of Saint-Julien-en-Beauchêne was home to one of the first Carthusian abbeys, which dominated the Lussois region from the 12th century until the French Revolution of 1789.
- The Knights Templar: This rival order to the Carthusians, established at the Templar house of Toussièrette, regulated trade along this ancient communication route to finance its presence in the Holy Land.
- Rural architecture: The houses reveal the way of life of the mountain populations of yesteryear.
- Les Glacières: Located on the southern edge of the commune, these natural freezers provided winter work for Lussois farmers at the end of the 19th century.
- In the footsteps of Giono: The landscape inspired the novels of this famous 20th-century writer, who spent time in the neighboring commune of Lalley.
- Summer camps: Up to 9 camps have enlivened the summer life of Lus and fueled many childhood memories, two of which are still active today.
Summer program of lectures and field trips on local heritage during the 1st half of August.
