About

  • Pets welcome

Departing from the colorful agricultural checkerboard of the Quint valley, this emblematic traverse on the ridgeline between cliffs and plateau rises like a lookout above the Drôme valley and opens onto one of the most beautiful panoramas ...

Step by step

1/ From the Tourtes parking lot (675 m), continue to the Jabrot ravine (719 m).

2/ Follow the track to the left. At Col de la Poule (775 m), turn right towards Col de Fond-Payanne. The path climbs steadily through the undergrowth. Turn right onto the Fond-Payanne path. The slope steepens sharply, then the path becomes flatter before reaching a private hut (spring). At the end of the clearing, turn right, then take the path on the right to reach the ridge and the Col de Fond-Payanne (1412 m).

3/ Follow the track to the right (GR® 93) to reach the Clots crest (1423 m), then take the right-hand path. It runs along the top of the cliffs (overlooking the Quint valley) and reaches the Bouillanain pass (1,444 m).

4/ Continue due south on the wooded path that diverges slightly from the ridge. Further on, climb to the right towards the pastures, skirt the ridge and, after two steep climbs, reach the panoramic view of the Vercors and the Diois from the But St-Genix (1,673 m).

5/ Return to the Bouillanain pass (1,444 m) and descend to the left (west) along a faintly marked path on the steep slope. After a few hairpin bends, the path crosses undergrowth and large scree slopes (the rather tricky route requires sure-footedness!).

6/ At Quatre-Chemins (1,359 m), turn right towards the Tourtes parking lot. At the Grange des Barnaries crossroads (944 m), take the wide right-hand track. It leads to the Jabrot ravine (719 m). Turn left to reach the parking lot.
